With the dark nights drawing in

With the dark nights drawing in, our attention turns to matters of safety and security.

Badger Farm is a lovely place to live, but we could all do that little bit more to make it a safer place too.

Firstly, the parish council has been made aware of speeding issues on certain roads in the parish, including Badger Farm Road, Ridgeway and Meadow Way.

To gain a fuller picture of the scale of the problem (isolated or regular incidents and which roads), it would be very useful for any concerned residents to get in touch with our Clerk.

You can write to us, care of Badger Farm Community Centre, by phone on 07463 760801/01425 656010, by email at clerk@badgerfarm-pc.gov.uk or via our social media channels.

Your comments will be passed to Cllr Harvey Skinner who represents us on all transport related issues.

All your comments will be collated and BFPC will assess if further action may be appropriate e.g. speed monitoring or displays.

We will then liaise with relevant authorities to help us address the issue.

If you are concerned about bogus door to door sales, scam emails, distraction burglaries etc there are a few basic things you can do to protect yourself.

Why not consider setting up a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme for your street?

Sandie Vining is the Neighbourhood Watch Representative for Winchester City.

You can contact her on 865384 or email sandievining@btinternet.com for further information.

She is also happy just to add you to her distribution list without being part of NW so that you can keep in the loop with all local crime information.

You can also contact Carol Wade who is a Neighbourhood Watch volunteer with Hampshire Police.

Phone her on 07768 542305 or email carol.wade@hampshire.pnn.police.uk

If you are concerned about possible fraud you can contact Action Fraud.

They are the UK’s National fraud and cyber crime reporting centre.

Call 0300 123 2040 or visit www.actionfraud.police.uk

Enjoy the cosy Autumn evenings and do contact us if you have any concerns.
